A graduate from ESA Lebanon/ESCP France and a holder of a Masters in Finance, Jihad cumulates a total of 19 years in the insurance industry.
After spending respectively 3 and 6 years successfully pricing, underwriting and developing treaty reinsurance in most non-life lines of business for Arab Re and General Re for the MENA region, Jihad moved to the challenge of heading direct insurance operations for AIG in Saudi Arabia. In this position, Jihad developed the western province area of AIG in Saudi Arabia, managing a branch in Jeddah, writing all lines of business, developing mainly corporate and commercial insurance contracts for major local and international clients.
Further to his experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries, Jihad joined forces with a few professionals to develop the business of a nascent reinsurance broker and became after a few years of successful expansion through the MENA region the managing director of the firm. As managing director, Jihad managed a team that exceeded 100 industry professionals and personally headed various areas of operation such as the treaty division which he established when he joined the company and developed to reach after 8 years half of the premium handled.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from McGill University in Canada, and a holder of a Master of Business Administration from the same university, Jean-Carl has been working during the past 20 years for multinationals in the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East holding several executive positions in business development, marketing and strategy.
Throughout his career, Jean-Carl had the opportunity to take up key positions in the reinsurance and telecom fields. His experience in reinsurance as part of the General Re Group gave him the opportunity to underwrite and develop treaty business for various lines of insurance in the MENA region with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrein and Oman markets. In addition to his reinsurance background, Jean-Carl has been heading the marketing and strategy departments of several mobile telecommunication operators including operators of Orange group in Latin America and the Middle East, and Qtel in North Africa.
Elias has been developing business for international insurance companies located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for more than 30 years. Those included Saudi Scandinavian, a subsidiary of Swedish Insurance, UAP, Victoire Insurance, AXA, as well as AIG.
In addition to his 7 years as branch manager for Saudi Scandinavian, Elias has operated for 19 years as an independent agent for these companies, successfully developing their business across the region and forging himself a strong reputation for industry expertise and developing a rich network of relations.
Strong with this background, Elias went on to launch Elite Global Insurance Agency (EGIA) in 2008 and later in 2013 Al AFAQ Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers both duly licensed and regulated entities. Elias is today the Managing Director of AL AFAQ in Saudi Arabia.
After graduating with a BBA and an MBA in International Business from Schiller International University in France, Rémi went on to head several operations in the Insurance and Finance fields.
In the Insurance sector, Rémi held key positions with Victoire Insurance for 5 years before being appointed General Manager of Axa Group’s subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates. After successfully driving Axa’s operation, he then moved on to the challenge of restructuring and streamlining Dubai National Insurance and Reinsurance in Dubai, securing in his capacity of General Manager the company’s path to growth.
His expertise also encompasses several years of experience in business and financial consultancy based in Switzerland and covering wide geographies with a specific focus on the Middle East. He currently owns and heads RH Finance, an independent wealth management company leveraging its thorough market knowledge, solid financial expertise, and broad international network to provide financial advice to industry leaders and entrepreneurs worldwide.
Rémi Hakim is a Board member of Link and several other companies in Europe and the Middle East.
